Poor Giraffes

On Monday, Miss A went on a 'field trip' to the zoo with her preschool. On our way to t-ball practice that night, she was telling me all about the animals and the things they did that day, but she didn't mention the giraffes. The giraffes happen to be my favorite exhibit at our little local zoo, so I asked if she had seen them.

Yes, was the reply, but they were sad.

Obviously, my next step was to ask WHY the giraffes were sad. Miss A piped right up, with enough disgust in her voice to make me dread her teenage years, and said, "I don't know, mom. They weren't talking about it."

Oooooooooookay.

But now I'm dying to go to the zoo and stare at the giraffes until I can get a hint as to their emotional state.

She's pretty astute! The giraffes do often look a bit morose, especially if they are inside. She has both empathy and attitude!! :)
