I have a confession. Little Miss P - at 2 years and 3 months old - still takes a bottle for naps and bedtime. Well, she did until yesterday. And let me tell you, she is NOT happy about the change in her life.
With N and A, we took the bottle away as soon as they turned one. No ifs, ands, or buts - it was gone and that was that. We gave P a little more slack since change is so hard for her. But a couple of days ago, she asked for a cup with no lid to drink out of at dinner and I realized that the bottle had to go away. If little missy can drink just fine out of a cup with no lid, then she doesn't need a bottle anymore.
That was my theory anyway.
So yesterday when it was time for nap, I told her that her bottle was dirty and she'd have to drink out of a sippy cup for naptime. She nodded to show that she understood the situation. And promptly refused to take a nap.
By bedtime, Miss P was dragging. When I trotted out the ol' 'your bottle is dirty' story, she gave me a look that plainly said she was turning me in to the Obama administration for violation of the new torture policies. She did finally fall asleep, but not without a lot of crying and showing me the sign language gesture for milk over and over again. Every time, I told her that her bottle was dirty and that her milk was in her sippy cup.
Poor Miss P will be putting an ad in the paper any day now looking for someone to wash dishes at our house.

I can feel your pain. Drew still takes a bottle at bedtime...as soon as his bath is over and his pj's are on...he wants his "baaahtee"....and his "mulk". I think it will be a hard transition for him. He and little Ms. P will probably compare notes :)
I think we will have the same battle. At this point I just need to get Bennett to sleep through the night in his crib. He's nowhere near giving up his beloved "baba". Good luck and let me know what works for Miss. P.
Good Luck! I am so glad I didn't have to wean ours off of pacifiers & a bottle! Actually, C never touched a bottle after a bad ear infection at 11 months, so I got off easy ;) The boys were on a bottle until age 2. They were probably ready to get off earlier, but I wasn't ready for them to! I should be a spokesperson for the NUBY sippy cups/a lot like a bottle & that's still what C drinks her milk out of morning, noon & night. Otherwise, she's on a straw flip cap cup/regular sippies too. She'll get there!!!
