So here I go again on my own... going down the only road I've ever known... like a drifter I was born to walk alone...
Yes, I'm channeling Whitesnake and I think it's only fair that all of you shall now be humming the song for the next few days. So there.
As you know if you've been paying any attention whatsoever, I work for a magazine publisher. We do several quarterly mags, which means I generally have this nicely spaced out work que with a couple of weeks of leisurely normal stuff followed by a couple of weeks of frantic pre-press activity.
Generally.
Since, ohhhhh... say... July... things have been a bit more frantic than that. We added a new magazine to the line-up and developing/designing a magazine from scratch just isn't as easy as it could be. Then, because life wasn't difficult enough, two of my other mag deadlines were moved up because of fall conference dates. Anywho, you don't really care and all I'm really trying to say is that life has been super-duper crazy at work and, now that all my mags new and old are off to press, I was looking forward to some dead time.
But then I got silly. I got involved in this super cool, incredibly awesome project with a ridiculously short deadline. Meredith says I need to learn to say 'No'. I'd smack her upside the head for criticizing what I think is a noble effort on my part but 1) she's probably right and 2) she's pregnant so... Anywho.
I have only another day or so to finish up the super cool, incredibly awesome project (and very secret, obviously... I promise to tell you all about it in a couple of weeks!) and THEN I'm promising myself a little downtime. Except for the 5k I'm running on Saturday, the library book sale I need to attend, and the quilt show on Sunday.
And I've made up my mind. I ain't wasting no more time.
Whitesnake is urging me to get back to work.
