First, I need to tell you that my review of The Kid is up at BlogHer. This really wasn't one of the easiest books I've read, and I'm not sure I would tell you to read it... except that I think a lot of you should. It's an amazing, excellent book, but the subject matter is beyond hard. Anywho, check out the review and tell me what you think.
I've been doing some other summer reading that is a bit lighter in subject matter. First up was the new Dresden Files book, Ghost Story. Actually, I'm not sure that qualifies as 'lighter' since Dresden is, in fact, dead. But hey... it was a great book! I do love that series dearly, and now I'm left waiting another year for the next installment.
Then I took a trip to the library this weekend and zipped through a few other books. I read Vince Flynn's new Mitch Rapp book, which was actually a prequel that explained how Rapp became an assassin for the U.S. government. I love those books that are all government-conspiracy, spy on the run and Flynn delivered once again.
Oh, and I grabbed the new Hannah Swensen book, Devil's Food Cake Murder, by Joanne Fluke. Although the love triangle thing is really starting to get on my nerves, the recipes alone make the books worth it. I think I gain five pounds just from reading the darn things!
